It is hard enough breaking into the work force, but throw in a devastating economic depression, and college grads like me are fighting a totally uphill battle. I can’t believe how many people are out there job hunting, competing for the same jobs that I am applying for. It’s a really difficult job market, and I worry about my student loans and my credit rating all the time. Since I’ve graduated, I’ve only been able to find part time work, and all the headhunters tell me there is nothing out there. I live in New York, so it is even harder to make ends meet. The recession really has me feeling the pinch.
Thoughts of an Office Worker
June 1, 2010 — 5:58 amI am having an okay day. It is too chilly in the office, which tends to be a problem due to the drafty windows. I hate sitting at my computer with my coat on, wishing I could wear gloves and still type okay. I am glad that I have some nice hot soup to warm up for lunch. It is butternut squash carrot soup, with a bit of a chili pepper kick. That’s something to look forward to, I guess. What I am not looking forward to is the long commute home on the subway. This morning, the D express was running local! Luckily, I gave myself extra time and still got to work on times. Like I said, my day’s going okay.
