One thing I’m really passionate about is adopting animals from Shelters instead of pet stores or breeders. There are so many beautiful, perfect animals out there that have been neglected, or abused or born to an animal that was neglected or abused. You can be just as picky and particular when looking for a shelter pet as you can when looking elsewhere. If you are willing to travel a few miles to surrounding cities your pet might be in, you’ll have a great selection of new friends to choose from! I got my dog from a shelter in the province next to mine (a plane ride away), and she got flown in to me by the shelter, so the first time I met her was at the airport! It was the best decision I ever made!
